"Highwaymen" Invade the Catacombs at Bube's Brewery!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Local independent filmmakers descended on Bube's Brewery in Mount Joy recently to film a pivotal scene in their action movie, "No Sanctuary". Jake Stetler, the film's writer and director said that he, "...was thrilled to shoot in a location so steeped in history. It gave the scene a great visual look and a certain authenticity."
The movie concerns a group of strangers who are under siege in the ruins of a church. They must fight to protect a young girl from a legion of undead Highwaymen.
The catacombs, with a past linked to both the Underground Railroad and a speakeasy during the Prohibition, was converted into a colonial-era tavern. It was necessary for the story to create a "den of thieves" for the notorious Highwaymen.
Owner Sam Allen, who portrayed one of the Highwaymen, has long supported the arts in Central PA. Bube's Brewery continually hosts Murder Mysteries, Ghost Tours, and a steady influx of local musicians.
Drew Whelpley, a Texas resident, played the villain Midnight Jack. He had this to say, "I enjoyed working with the cast & crew of No Sanctuary. I believe that Jake will be at the forefront of a continuing effort to build an independent film scene in Lancaster like my hometown of Austin."
